The Distress Response Service is the first point of contact for many with FDAMH.
All clients referred to FDAMH now receive their initial assessment through the Distress Response Service (previously Immediate Help Service), instead of being referred directly to a specific service. This change has ensured that staff in the team can speak to anyone who needs support. Each client gets the time they need in their initial assessment to discover what service(s) may be the best fit for them to ensure they don’t spend time on waiting lists for services which are not suitable.
Same day appointments are still available for clients who are in crisis or at risk of harming themselves and this is crucial in delivering the service successfully and ensuring the clients who need to be seen quickly are given that option.
